About 4Drive Croatia

Connecting you with local rental companies across Croatia

Who We Are

4Drive Croatia is a booking platform that connects travellers with local rental companies operating in Croatian cities and airports. We work with operators in Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Zadar, Pula, Trogir and other Adriatic destinations to offer straightforward online reservations. The vehicles belong to independent companies in each location, and you sign the rental agreement directly with them upon collection.

Our focus is on transparent terms, no-deposit options where available, and clear information about payment methods accepted for each specific vehicle. We do not own a fleet or operate rental counters ourselves. Instead, we handle the digital booking process so that local operators can concentrate on vehicle preparation and customer handover.

How 4Drive Works

The booking journey is divided into four stages. First, you search for a vehicle by entering your pick-up location, dates and times. Our system displays available cars from local operators, showing the total cost, excess amount and accepted payment methods for the balance.

Second, you pay a booking advance online by debit or credit card to confirm your reservation. Cash is not accepted for online payments. The advance secures your vehicle and is deducted from the total amount due.

Third, you receive a voucher by email. This document contains the rental company's name, exact pick-up address, contact details and instructions for collection. Some operators have desks at airport terminals, others arrange delivery to your hotel or maintain off-airport counters.

Fourth, you collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location. The rental company checks your driving licence, completes the agreement and records the vehicle condition with you present. Any existing scratches or marks are noted in the contract before you drive away. You pay the remaining balance using the payment method specified in your voucher - debit card, cash or credit card, depending on the car you booked.

Where We Operate

We cover the main coastal and inland hubs used by visitors arriving by air or ferry. Split and Split Airport (SPU) serve as gateways to Central Dalmatia, with easy access to the A1 motorway. Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) provide connections to the southern coast and Montenegro border crossings.

Zagreb and Zagreb Airport (ZAG) link the capital to Slovenia and inland routes along the A3 motorway. Zadar and Zadar Airport (ZAD) sit between Istria and Dalmatia, convenient for exploring Plitvice Lakes and Paklenica National Park. Pula and Pula Airport (PUY) anchor Istria, with routes to Trieste and the Slovenian border at approximately 120 km.

We also work with operators in Trogir, Makarska, Omis, Podstrana and Kastel Sucurac. Each town offers different pick-up arrangements - some have office locations, others deliver vehicles to your accommodation. Rental companies in these areas handle cross-border permits for Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, as well as ferry tickets to islands and motorway vignettes for Slovenia.

Why No Deposit

Selected vehicles in our listings are available without a security deposit being blocked on your card at pick-up. This means the rental company does not place a hold for the excess amount, freeing up your card limit for other expenses during your trip.

The excess - the maximum you would pay if the vehicle is damaged - still applies and is stated clearly in your booking details. No deposit does not eliminate the excess or change your liability. It simply removes the temporary card hold. These are two independent parameters: one governs whether funds are frozen on your card, the other defines your financial responsibility in the event of damage.

Not every car qualifies for no-deposit terms. Requirements vary by vehicle, not by class or category. If your chosen model requires a security deposit, we recommend ensuring your debit or credit card has sufficient available credit to cover the hold. Your voucher will specify the exact deposit amount and which card type the operator accepts.
